Today I decided to write about the recent tea parties. At first I was going to share a Ron Paul video but then I found another one that I thought complimented this article much better.
On July 4th, 2009 I will be attending a tea party at my state’s capital. I also attended the April 15th tea party to protest the direction our country is heading in. I have seen many people online say things like, “I don’t get it” or “I received a tax break why protest taxes”. I watched the media come unglued over the April 15th tea parties, calling those that attended things like tea baggers, extremists and radicals. If loving your country and the things it stands for makes me a radical then, ladies and gentlemen, I am a radical.
I was very hesitant and nervous in April about my political adventure. I had planned on attending the first protest in February but got cold feet at the last minute. I have never done anything like this before. I had no idea what to expect. I want to tell everybody, it had one of the most profound effects on me words cannot describe. A weight had been lifted–I had been heard! For weeks I was on cloud nine.
I could go on for days pointing out the flaws of our government but for now I’ll just explain a few of the reasons why I’ll be attending yet another tea party. I truly believe our country is in peril. The greatest enemy to our constitution does not come from the sands or mountains of the Middle East or Europe, but right here in our capital (Washington DC). Our current congress passed the biggest spending bill in the history of our nation and they did NOT read it. We said no to illegal immigration and they ignored us. We say no to 300 billion dollars in hand-outs to illegal immigrants and they ignored us. We said NO to bailing out corrupt, greedy and failed businesses and they ignored us. We said stop sending our jobs overseas and they ignored us. If our government were a business they would all be in prison.
Our leaders on both sides of the political parties knew about the risk of this housing bubble and did nothing to stop it. They are more worried about their own re-election than the good of the country. I urge people to look into the Community Reinvestment Act of 1977. This was the start of our housing disaster, it was government interference into the private sector that caused this crash and now they claim to be the saviors. There is a clear trail the media refuses to cover. When you start piecing things together you see that something stinks in Washington and the media is in on it.
I would like to point out another reason I will attend–The Federal Reserve Bank. Are you aware this bank is privately owned? They are no more “federal” than Federal Express. A privately owned bank yet they hold our nations purse strings. There is no oversight, no audit, nothing. The Federal Reserve Bank is owned by foreign and domestic entities. I would also like to point out they cannot account for nearly 2.0 trillion dollars of tarp and bailout money (taxpayer money) nor do they have to. They are above the law. HR 1207 is a bill currently in congress introduced by Ron Paul that would allow us to audit them but it is seeing fierce resistance by many politicians. I wonder why that would be. Call your local rep and demand they support HR 1207.
I have not even touched on the trampling of our Constitution. Our politicians look at this document as a hindrance not a guide. It is our founding documents that set us apart from the rest of the world. These documents were put into place to protect us from government. When the Constitution is ignored, trampled and changed by the very people who have sworn to protect it then it’s time for the American people to STAND together and say enough.
“We The People” are the greatest beacon of freedom the world has ever seen. People come to this country to escape oppression, socialism, communism, dictatorship, fascism and statist yet it seems our leaders do not embrace our greatness but attack it and look for ways to diminish it. I for one will stand for my country’s greatness. Join with me on July 4th and re-declare your Independence.
