P90X Certification

February 24, 2012 By Amanda

Earlier this week I was pretty excited when I received an email that told me I was one of a select group of people chosen to be among the first to become P90X certified. Right now registration to become P90X certified is by invitation only, and the reason I was selected is because my Beachbody coaching business met a certain criteria during the last quarter of 2011.

Now, you don’t have to be a Beachbody coach to become P90X certified, but this is how they have selected people so far. I’m not sure what criteria will be used for the next batch of invites.

Honestly, at first I wasn’t sure if this was something that I REALLY wanted to do. After all, I’m not a personal trainer or a group fitness instructor. And the majority of Beachbody coaches aren’t either. That’s because the main job of a Beachbody coach is NOT to teach or train, because that’s what the workout programs are for. 🙂 The job of a coach is to inspire, motivate, support and lead by example.

However, after thinking about it for a while I decided that this was an opportunity that I couldn’t let slip by. Who knows, maybe eventually I WILL become certified in group exercise instruction or as a personal trainer. Either way, being P90X Certified will improve my credibility and enable me to coach people more effectively.

At the bottom of the invitation email I received it also states, “We strongly encourage all P90X Certified individuals to be or become certified personal trainers, which we can assist with as part of the P90X Certification Program.” So that’s pretty interesting. Based on the research I’ve done it looks like something might be in the works with NASM or Smart Fitness University Online but that’s all speculation at this point.

So, P90X enthusiasts can soon join the ranks of other fitness enthusiasts and professionals like Turbo and BodyPump instructors. I think that’s pretty exciting. 🙂 I’ll be attending the certification workshop in Chicago during the weekend of May 12-13.

Here’s the dealio:

Phase I – Qualification ($99): An online learning program with audio and visual presentations comprised of 11 chapters and quizzes. Successful completion of Qualification is required at least 7 days before attending a P90X Certification workshop.

Phase II – Certification ($399): A 2-day, intensive weekend workshop including hands-on instruction by Beachbody® Master Instructors, a comprehensive P90X course manual, and a written and practical exam to make sure you’ve mastered the material to be Certified.

Certification Total Cost: $498 ($99 Qualification + $399 Certification). For both P90X Qualification and Certification, Coaches receive a 10% discount.

If you’d like to be put on the waiting list please contact me and I’ll give the rest of the deets.
