Day 3: Emerald Rank

smartstartseries

Today is a FUN day! We’re going to learn some of the nitty-gritty details that probably aren’t very exciting to those of you who don’t like “brass tacks” BUT this info is going to be SO important to the growth of your business so you may need to go through it a couple of times.

We’re going to talk about EMERALD rank…what it means and HOW to get there. We’ll also cover the benefits and who to sign-up as your first two coaches.

Doug Fitzgerald is a founding coach and he has a video that provides a great overview of everything we cover today. If you prefer videos you can watch that first and then read the lesson. Or, you can watch the video as a summary after you’re done reading the lesson.

Either way works…so I’ll let you decide! 🙂 But I agree 100% with Doug that achieving Emerald rank is TOTALLY doable within your first week as a coach!

UPDATE: In addition to the other qualifications listed in the video you also need to achieve Success Club 5+ during the month in order to qualify for customer leads. We’ll learn more about Success Club in an upcoming lesson but it’s super simple so no worries!

OK, so before we go into the whole Emerald thing let’s make sure you understand the difference between an ACTIVE and INACTIVE coach.

Inactive vs. Active Coach Status

All new coaches start out their first week as INACTIVE. If you purchased a challenge pack during the sign-up process, the Beachbody system will show you as ACTIVE the next time the system updates. The Beachbody system checks every Wednesday night at midnight EST to see if each coach has bought or sold at least 50 PV (personal volume) points in the last 35 days.

You can see how many PV points are assigned to each product by logging into your TBB account and clicking on the SHOP tab.

PVs are about equivalent to what YOU pay, as a coach, dollar for dollar. For example, P90X costs $89.89 for you as a coach and is worth 90 PV. If someone purchases it from your account, they pay $119.85 and you earn $30 (25%) and 90 PV. It’s the same PV points whether you buy it for yourself, or if someone buys it from your Beachbody website or link.

If you have 50 PVs, the system will post your new ACTIVE status (or higher coach rank status) the next time the system updates—Thursday morning. So, even if you bought or sold 50 PV worth of merchandise today, it would stay INACTIVE until Thursday morning.

So, what does INACTIVE really mean?

If you are INACTIVE you are still a coach. You still receive commissions on sales that you make. BUT, inactive status is a pretty good indicator that you’re not really actively buying or sharing the products and therefore not getting much out of the coaching experience.  🙁 In addition, as an inactive coach you do not qualify for any bonuses, and that includes the bonuses you receive for new coach sign-ups who purchase a challenge pack.

I’m assuming if you’re doing this training you’re a go-getter and already understand the importance of being active. It’s more or less hard core evidence that you’re “proof the products work.” You can let your coaches know that signing up for Shakeology home direct is the easiest way to stay active. Plus, you need to have 90PV on monthly autoship to qualify for Success Club anyway, (we’ll talk about that soon) so that’s two things taken care of right there. Problem solved! And chances are you’re already loving Shakeology and drinking it daily so no big deal!

EMERALD Rank

ranksThe first level of higher earnings (when you become eligible for team bonuses and the Customer Lead Program) is to reach EMERALD rank. Being Emerald means you are ACTIVE and you have at least two coaches under you that are also ACTIVE (one on each side in your downline). So, you could become Emerald right away, but have a coach who hasn’t bought or sold 50 PV worth of product in 35 days and drop out of Emerald status. Not a show-stopper, but the more coaches you have, the easier it is to maintain your rank and go higher. As long as YOU stay active you will not lose any carryover team volume that you’ve accumulated.

Achieving EMERALD status can actually happen pretty quickly even as a brand new coach. Once you qualify for the Customer Lead Program, customers will be assigned to you on a random basis. The number of customers you receive varies depending on the time of year (January is a VERY busy time!). At first they may not order much, because they have JUST ordered from Beachbody (and you don’t get credit for that first order since it came from a Beachbody advertisement). But they DO order as time goes on and especially if you’ve made an effort to connect and invite them to your challenge groups. Also, as these customers experience success with the Beachbody products they ordered, they may eventually want to become coaches themselves!

Once you become an Emerald coach and qualify for Success Club you’ll receive more information on the best way to connect with your new customer leads.

In Summary, the Main Benefits of Becoming Emerald Are:

1. You become eligible for the Customer Lead Program where customers are assigned to you as long as you achieved Success Club during the previous month.

2. You become eligible for team cycle bonuses. Yes, these team cycle bonuses take time to grow, but give them time! As your team grows and their teams grow, your team cycle bonus grows exponentially.

FAQs

How do I qualify for the Customer Lead Program?

To qualify for the Customer Lead Program you need to meet the following requirements:

1. Emerald rank or higher.
2. At least a “Before” Picture posted on your Team Beachbody profile page with a bio.
3. Club Membership ($38.87 every three months). Beachbody wants to make sure you are familiar with all their tools if they are assigning you customers that may also be club members.
4. You qualify for Success Club 5 or above during the month.

What if my coaches just joined to get the discount?

Not everyone wants to work the business, and you WILL have people wanting to join just for the discounts. GREAT! Do not turn those folks down! Many of those people end up building their business without even trying anyway! They will also contribute to your team volume.

I started off as a “discount coach.” But I quickly saw how fun it was to share the success I had doing P90X with others. I discovered I could turn my love for health and fitness into additional income PLUS help people change their lives too. This is something I was doing for FREE and would continue to do for free but if I can get PAID for it, WHY NOT? 🙂

Should my spouse/significant other become a coach?

YES!!!

The first two people you personally sponsor as coaches are the two people that will benefit the MOST from your hard work and your growing team of coaches. Those two people (the first one on each leg) will have in their organization ALL the people YOU add to your organization PLUS they’ll have others in their organization that are added from those above YOU.

I can’t emphasize the importance of this enough!!

Even if those first two people don’t want to really “work” the business, as long as they at least become Emerald, they’ll be able to cash in on team bonus cycles, from coaches YOU and your teammates bring in.

I am commonly asked, “What if those first two people don’t want to work it and do nothing with their business? Does it negatively impact ME?” No, it doesn’t negatively impact you as long as you’re still moving forward and building your team. It’s true that it doesn’t HELP you that they’re not working it, and it’s their loss for not taking advantage of the downline growing beneath them, but it doesn’t HURT your business if they do nothing with their account and don’t take advantage of the team cycle bonuses.

When my sister Mary joined the business back in 2008 my husband was the first coach who signed up under her. Like you, her goal was to get to Emerald as quickly as possible. He had just finished P90X and loved the products, but really wasn’t interested in working the business at the time. But he decided to do it to help her out and he was interested in the discount too. Needless to say, that was a very smart decision on his part and seven years later we are VERY grateful that Mary was as motivated as she was to build her business!!

The benefits of having a spouse/sig other/family member/BFF join under you:

1. It helps you reach Emerald rank VERY quickly because you only need TWO active coaches to be Emerald (one on each side).

2. Once your spouse/family member is active and you’ve reached Emerald, you can have your next couple of coaches join under your spouse so that he/she is now an Emerald under you! Eventually you’ll have TWO weekly bonus checks that start coming in as the team grows, and TWO accounts collecting customers under the Customer Lead Program. Two checks and twice the amount of customers is better than one.

I’m quite sure of this. 😉

3. With an Emerald coach under you that you can RELY ON to stay Emerald, you’re now closer to reaching Diamond rank! Then you’ll build his/her account to be one of your DIAMONDS which increases the bonus you receive each week even more.

Here are two videos you can watch that explain in more detail what I outlined above. I think it’s helpful to hear this explained from more than one perspective to help it all sink in.

WHEW! Does that all make sense? Any questions so far?

I know that was A LOT of info and it might take some time to sink in. You’re doing GREAT!

TODAY’S HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT

1. If you’re not an Emerald coach yet, think of at least 5 *really close* people (a spouse, a parent, adult son/daughter, best friend, etc.) that you could ask if they would CONSIDER joining you, if even for the benefits of getting fit with you while getting the discount on Shakeology or the programs. They don’t have to stay active forever or stay in for any length of time if they don’t want to…it’s just to help get your business on it’s feet. They can always cancel later once your business gains steam (although they might not want to!). But again, you want your first two coaches to be the people who are most dear to you because they are going to benefit greatly from all of your hard work!

NOTE: Beachbody is proud to offer the military waiver program to qualified Coaches. These qualified coaches do not need to pay the $39.95 sign-up fee or the $15.95 monthly business service fees. Those eligible include active duty service members, spouses of active duty service members not already enrolled as a Coach, honorably discharged military veterans (including those discharged early as a result of injuries sustained in the course of service), and spouses of military service members who were lost or killed in action. For more info on this program check the back office under MY FORMS AND DOCUMENTS > TEAM BEACHBODY MILITARY COACH INSTRUCTIONS.

Keep in mind you’re also allowed to pay the business service fees for two family members as long as they live in the same household as you. If need be, you can send a sale through their account to make them active and they’ll earn that commission. These people don’t have to be on Shakeology either. 50PV is all they need to stay active. What many coaches do is, once they reach their Success Club points for the month they direct all future orders through their two family members to keep them active. It’s not cheating…many coaches do it! And it’s perfectly normal that these two coaches really won’t be into working the business. It’s just to give your business a kick-start so you can achieve that first rank and start qualifying for those leads. You can also use these family accounts to order Shakeology packets to use as samples for your other family and friends.
