Day 2: The 4 Vital Behaviors

If you want to know the SECRET SAUCE of Beachbody coaching you’ll find your answer in the 4 VITAL BEHAVIORS. You should be doing these 4 Vital Behaviors EVERY DAY if you want to build a successful business. Since each behavior is VITAL we’re going to study them one-by-one. 🙂

Vital Behavior #1: INVITE.INVITE.INVITE.

(BTW some coaches say “connect, connect, connect” and that works too!!)

It’s important to realize that there are THREE steps to the invitation process. This is true not just for Beachbody coaches but for ANY business owner. If you skip a step you’ll most likely find yourself running into problems. A BIG mistake that a lot of rookie coaches make is that they skip all the way to the third step. Unfortunately, this makes them look like amateurs and gives network marketing a bad name! And we don’t want that for YOUR business. 🙂

So let’s explore each step one by one.

FIRST: Invite someone to be your friend and join your very special network of “peeps.” It’s just that simple! It could be someone you meet running errands, a new follower on social media, or a new connection you make on your Facebook. As you business grows and you figure out what niche you’d like to serve a great way to build your network is to create some type of digital freebie that you give away in exchange for an email address. If you’re an introvert like me this can all sound a lil scary but it doesn’t have to be!

But at this point pleeeeeeease don’t make this more complicated than it needs to be! You don’t need to make this “weird” just think of it as making new friends or re-connecting with someone that you haven’t talked to in a while. Remember, this doesn’t have to be all about fitness…think about some of your favorite hobbies and activities and use that as a way to grow your network.

You should be adding at least 3-5 new people to your network every day.

SECOND: Once the relationship is established and you’ve had a chance to learn more about their needs/wants you should continue to shower your peeps with lots of value. You can do this via a business Facebook page or group where you share tips, recipes, motivation, etc., a weekly newsletter you send via email, a PDF document that includes some of your favorite recipes, a helpful report you wrote on how to do something, or a 5-7 day challenge group. There are LOTS of possibilities and don’t be afraid to think outside the box! Almost any topic can be directed back to health and fitness!

You want to make sure that your free resources are a reflection of YOU and what makes your business unique. As a new coach, typically the easiest thing to do is host a FREE 5-7 day challenge on Facebook.

You should host at least one free challenge group every month.

THIRD: Once trust has been established through a personal relationship and/or one of your free resources you can invite someone to participate in a longer (paid) challenge group, purchase a product, or sign-up to be a coach. You’ll learn a little bit more about this as we go through the training.

You should be sharing the business opportunity and/or products with at least 3-5 new people every week.

VITAL BEHAVIOR #2: BE PROOF THE PRODUCTS WORK

A lot of people think they can’t be a successful coach unless they’ve reached their “goal weight.” That’s just not true! Besides that…even if you ARE at your goal weight (whatever that means!) I don’t know of anyone who wakes up the morning and says, “You know what, I really don’t see any room for improvement.”

No way!! LOL

There are ALWAYS things we can be working on to make ourselves better. That’s why this business is so GREAT!!!

You don’t have to be at your ideal weight or fitness level to show you’re making PROGRESS. You just have to be actively participating and practicing what you preach…consistently! If you’re going to ask someone to do something, you better be doing it yourself. Being an example not only improves your credibility, it gets people excited because most likely they’ll be looking at you and witnessing your transformation firsthand. Be prepared to explain your journey so it is easy to talk to people when you are asked.

Here is a simple way to create your own story, just complete the sentences:

1. “I joined Team Beachbody because . . .”
2. “I’m so happy I did because . . . ”
3. “Because of my Beachbody business I hope to . . . ”

Does this mean you need to be perfect? Heavens NO! People are inspired and motivated by people that are just like them. Everybody has struggles. But if you want to give people something to be inspired by, YOU need to be inspired! You gotta be on a mission and overcoming things that are difficult for you. You have to get back up and keep on going every time you stumble.

It’s also important to know that you don’t have to LOVE and recommend EVERYTHING that Beachbody sells. For example, I don’t like the Turbo or dance workouts all that much (just not my style!), but that certainly doesn’t mean someone else won’t enjoy them or get good results from them (which of course MANY people do!!).

Just be YOU! And thanks to our partnership with Beachbody we don’t need to be fitness, nutrition, or business experts (of course you can be any and all those things if you want…but it’s not required!). And just be REAL and honest when people ask you questions. When someone asks me what I think about Cize I say, “Well…it’s not my personal favorite but my friend Michelle LOVES it and she got great results!”

People gravitate towards honesty and authenticity and can tell if you’re just trying to sell them something.

BOTTOM LINE: If you’re using the products and getting results, it will be a lot easier to talk to people about what you’re doing because it will just be a natural part of the conversation.

Makes sense right?!?

You should be drinking Shakeology daily and incorporating a Beachbody workout and/or nutrition program into your weekly routine.

VITAL BEHAVIOR #3: PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

Yesterday we talked a lot of about personal development but it’s important to remember that YOU are the secret sauce of your business. ALWAYS!

whyfitin

Don’t lead with the products…lead with YOU!! That’s how you’re going to stand out among 500,000+ other coaches! Don’t be afraid to be different and don’t be afraid to be YOU! There are leaders in this business and you can look to them for advice, inspiration and guidance but the absolute worst thing you can do is attempt to copy someone else.

It’s just like Mrs. Gump says, “If God intended everybody to be the same, He’d given us all braces on our legs.”

You should be spending at least 15 minutes a day on personal development.

VITAL BEHAVIOR #3: RECOGNIZE.RECOGNIZE.RECOGNIZE.

It’s important to recognize and give props to your peeps during each stage of their journey. If you wait too long to recognize their achievements they may never get results! It’s also important to know that some people are more motivated by recognition compared to others. Some personalities prefer to work quietly behind the scenes (hello WHITES!) while others are more competitive and are very motivated by recognition (hello YELLOWS!). So in some cases it might be better to send someone a personal message saying they’re doing a great job while in other cases a blast out to your entire following on social media might be more appropriate.

Both your clients and your team of coaches deserve recognition. And I’m a big fan of giving props for their ACTIONS…not just RESULTS! After all, 99% of the time when people are consistent with taking action they will get the results they want. 🙂

Here are some CLIENT examples:

Pressed PLAY every day for XX amount of days.
Drank Shakeology every day for XX amount of days.
Completed a program.
Ate all of their GREEN portion fix servings for XX amount of days.

Here are some COACHING examples:

Set up their first challenge group.
Invited XX peeps to a challenge group, free workshop, or the coaching opportunity.
Completed a program.
Earned Success Club.

You should look for an opportunity to celebrate and reinforce at least one meaningful achievement and activity that leads to results in your clients and coaches every day.

TODAY’S HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT

1. Based on the personal interests and unique characteristics you listed on your new coach form start brainstorming some ideas for your first free challenge group.

A lot of new coaches start with a “clean eating” challenge but personally I think that’s too generic and it’s been done to death. Clean eating is great, but how can you take that one step further? Do you have a special interest in a certain type of cuisine or eating style? Gluten-free, paleo, plant-based, etc.? Or maybe you want to do a totally different type of challenge? That’s even better! Tarah Carr is a uber-successful coach and she created a 5-Day challenge designed to help people “trim down” their budget and during the challenge she introduced how Shakeology (a product someone people say is too expensive) helps her save money on groceries and how her coaching business helps her family financially. It’s definitely not the traditional “clean eating” challenge that most coaches do. We’ll talk more in-depth about running your first challenge later on during the training, but now is a good time to start brainstorming ideas. My best advice is to pick something that you’re somewhat knowledgeable about (or at least interested in so you’re motivated to learn more about it) and think OUTSIDE the box!

2. Make a list of at least 25-30 people you’d like to personally invite to your first challenge group. Don’t sweat it…we’re going to make this totally simple and fun!

Make sure you make your list on a notebook, spreadsheet, document, app, or somewhere *official* so you’ll be able to access it later. Your Facebook friends list is a GREAT place to start.

3. If you’re not reading one already, pick a book from the list below that looks good to you and dive into your personal development!

If reading isn’t your thing and you spend a lot of time in the car there are audio versions available too.
