Now that we’ve reached the end of January I hope everyone is still on track with their New Year’s Resolutions! If you’ve gotten a little OFF track that’s OK…just make sure that you adjust your course and don’t fall back into your old habits! Here in Michigan we are experiencing near sub-zero temperatures but it won’t be long before we’ll be thinking about getting back into our swimsuits!

A couple weeks ago I attended my first kettlebell workshop! Prior to that I had never picked up a kettlebell so I learned all about swings, jerks, presses, and switches! One exercise I found exceptionally challenging was the Russian Twist. For those P90Xers out there…you basically do Mason Twists while lifting your legs off the ground and moving a kettlebell from side to side. I was lucky enough to be working with a 8kg KB so that was pretty tough! Anyway, I’m looking forward to working a bit more with kettlebells so I can continue to add even more variety to my P90X/Insanity/running routine.
Yeah, kettlebells can be a bit expensive! But if you want to experiment with swings (a fundamental KB move) and have some weight plates at home you can make your own KBs for about $10! Check out this video for detailed instructions:
And speaking of Insanity….Asylum (Insanity 2) should be released sometime before spring! I’ll be sure to share the details with you as soon as they become available. Also, P90XMC2 (MC=muscle confusion) is currently in development!
Also, SHAUN T is coming to Columbus, OH (!!) for a workout on February 12th. I don’t have a lot of details yet but if you live in the midwest and are interested in working out LIVE with Shaun T let me know and I will keep you in the loop!
I’m currently doing another hybrid Round of P90X mixed with some Insanity and running. Mixing it up and adding variety is the spice of fitness!
