Fitness Success Boot Camp Day 5–Decide

If you’re really SERIOUS about making BIG changes in your life NOW is the time to DECIDE if you’re going to do something about it. Right now you may be feeling pretty optimistic about finally following through with your self-promises to get the body you’ve always wanted. BUT, it’s important to balance your enthusiasm with reality.

Despite what all the ads for miracle weight loss products try to tell us, there’s no such thing as something for nothing. Never forget that your results will come in direct proportion to the effort you invest. If you’re not getting the results you want, it’s time to evaluate your efforts. And while there are some ways to increase efficiency, there are NO shortcuts.

When you first begin on this journey you must use YOUR willpower and personal discipline. Even with workout programs as good as P90X and others, they are merely tools. It’s up to you to do the work. Thinking that anything or anyone outside yourself will determine the end result in your quest to get in the best shape of your life is ignorance.

There’s really no secret to getting started. You simply DECIDE and then take your first step. And with each step the next one becomes easier and more habitual while your confidence builds and your momentum continues to grow. I’m not saying that you won’t make mistakes along the way. The only way to fail on this journey is if you quit!

Willpower gets you started, but only habit keeps you going.

To transform your body you must reprogram your thinking and change your belief systems. This is the key to developing positive habits. You are capable of doing things beyond your comprehension. Have you ever started a fitness program with the best intentions and then sabotaged yourself? You can’t let your negative thoughts continue to run unchecked.

As you begin this journey, be prepared to accept responsibility for your results, for better or for worse. You must adopt the fitness success winner’s creed:

You can either make excuses or get results, but you can’t do both.
