Beachbody Coaching vs. Traditional Affiliate Programs

We all know that P90X is an effective workout program. We know because we’ve either done the program ourselves and achieved amazing results or we’ve seen the results of others. Because of its popularity, many internet marketers are looking for ways to promote P90X and other Beachbody programs on their websites or blogs.

I have my own P90X transformation story and was really excited about the possibility of monetizing my blog with some P90X affiliate links. So, like most other bloggers and internet marketers I went searching for how to sign-up for the P90X affiliate program. And then, a feeling of dispair came over me. I discovered that Beachbody was a network marketing (MLM) company. DAMN. Well, so much for that (or so I thought).

Here’s the thing. I dug a little deeper and found out you can still be a P90X affiliate without signing up to the coaching program. Anybody who tells you otherwise is a fibber. There’s a couple different options:

1. Amazon

If you’re an Amazon associate you can earn about 4-6% on every P90X sale you refer. That’s about $5 or $8.

2. Pepperjam

The commissions on the Pepperjam Network are a little better than Amazon.com. For every sale you refer you earn $29. Not bad.

OK, so that’s all well and good. As long as your website is approved and accepted by Pepperjam you can pretend you never heard of the Beachbody coaching program and go on your merry way. I actually did just that for a few months because the whole MLM thing freaked me out too much. I could never be one of THOSE people.

But for some reason I didn’t like how the P90X affiliate program was setup on Pepperjam. The interface was clunky and confusing to use. I didn’t feel comfortable with it. And even though I really like the Amazon associate program $5-8 per sale is hardly worth the effort. So, I started looking into the coaching program a little more. Could it really be THAT bad?

I originally was under the impression that in order to earn commissions as a Beachbody coach you had to meet a minimum requirement of sales every month. This is FALSE. You can sell one Tony Horton One On One DVD during the month and still earn your 25% commission ($5) even if that’s the only thing you sell for the entire sales cycle (35 days). If you want to use the coaching program like a traditional affiliate program there is no minimum requirement or additional expenses UNLESS YOU DECIDE TO BUILD A TEAM OF COACHES (a lot of coaches like to leave that last part out). Since I really wasn’t interested in building a team of coaches I decided WHY NOT GIVE IT A TRY. Plus, besides P90X there are tons of other great Beachbody products to promote. If someone is interested in P90X chances are they’re going to be interested in other workout programs. I was also interested in purchasing some other Beachbody stuff (did I mention that Beachbody has tons of great products?) and the 25% coach discount was a nice perk. Wouldn’t it be nice if other affiliate programs gave you a discount to try their products? Makes sense.

It was an interesting transition. As soon as I became a Beachbody coach blogging and internet marketing suddenly became a lot more fun. I also quickly discovered why Beachbody Coaching is so much better than a traditional affiliate program.

Here’s the most important points:

1. When you’re a Beachbody coach you get to keep your customers. Not only do you make a commission from the original sale, you earn money for all future sales that customer makes. You won’t get that from Amazon or Pepperjam.

2. If you DO decide to build your business and reach what Beachbody calls Emerald Status you become eligible for their customer lead program. Basically, Beachbody gives you an average of 5 new customers every week. You don’t earn a commission on the original sale, only future sales that the customer makes. This might not sound very exciting at first, but let’s think about this for a minute. After 12 months, that’s almost 300 customers that you didn’t have to spend one minute trying to find yourself. How often does THAT happen? Plus, your best coaching prospects are those people that are already Beachbody customers.

3. You get to form relationships with your customers. This might actually be a turn-off for some internet marketers that like to remain anonymous and hide behind the computer screen but I’ve discovered that it’s more fun than I thought it would be. Selling products that actually transform people’s lives is something that I enjoy being a part of. It’s very rewarding!

The one thing that bothers some people is that it COSTS MONEY to become a Beachbody coach. But if you think about IT COSTS MONEY TO START A BUSINESS. How much money do you need to open a new franchise down the street that follows a proven business system? Hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars? If $15 a month is too much for you to join a company that spends $70 million every year advertising products that you want to sell there’s not much else I can say to convince you otherwise.

If you’re an internet marketer and are struggling with the whole MLM concept I’d love to answer any questions you might have about the Beachbody coaching program. If you currently own a blog or website in the health and fitness niche you may be overlooking a great opportunity. But I’m only able to work with the willing! You still might want to promote P90X using Amazon or Pepperjam and that’s just fine! It doesn’t hurt my feelings!

But if you’re willing to put in just a little bit of extra effort you can start building your own business and HAVE FUN DOING IT. The tools and support are given to you and I will show you what I do. But I’m not going to tell you that you’re going to strike it rich overnight and it doesn’t require any work. Just like any other internet marketing project there are no guarantees. It all comes down to YOU putting in the effort!
