This is the first article in a series I’m writing called: 10 Critical Steps to Becoming a Successful Beachbody Coach. It was inspired by a training call my upline sponsor Jenelle Summers did recently.
I hope it helps you whether you’re already a Beachbody coach or are still thinking about it. Originally I was only going to share this with the coaches I have on my team but then I figured if more people could benefit then that would be even better.
So here we go!
1. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF AND BELIEVE IN THE BUSINESS.
This might sound self-centered but when I signed up to become a coach I knew it wasn’t a matter of IF I would be successful with this business it was only a matter of WHEN. I’ll be the first to tell you that if you want to take this business to the moon (like many others have), it doesn’t take much talent.
What it does takes is a A LOT of belief and determination. I would say it works out to about 45% BELIEF 45% DETERMINATION and 10% SKILL. If you have the belief and determination nothing will stop you from learning the skills you need to improve. Everyone is blessed with a different skillset. When you first become a coach you might not be ready to step outside your comfort zone because you’re still learning the ins and outs of how everything works. And that’s OK. In the beginning just focus on your strengths.
However, if you want to take things to the next level you will eventually need to step outside your comfort zone. For me personally this will involve more talking on the phone, leading conference calls/webinars, making videos, and public speaking (eek).
I’m a shy introvert and covert stutterer! Do I sound like the perfect match for a network marketing business? I like to write and tinker with my website and meet new people on social media. I was NOT blessed with the gift of gab and when I walk into a room people don’t say, “Oh Amanda’s here…now we can get the party started!” It takes me a long time to build a relationship with someone and form a strong friendship.
But my point is, everyone will have a different excuse as to why they believe they can’t do this. But you have to get over your excuses and just figure it out. It’s going to take A LOT of personal development. You might not need to do any personal development at your current job, but when you decide to start your own business and help other people, you better be ready to make some changes. Your business will eventually plateau the same way your body does when you keep doing the same workout routine over and over again. Your business will grow at the same rate as your personal development.
When I first became a coach I didn’t think I needed any of that personal development stuff. Poo-poo I can figure this all out on my own…thank-you-very-much! I believed in myself 100% but I wasn’t at the point where I believed in the business 100%. I was one of those “OK I’m going to try this out for a few months and see if it works” kind of people. I realized that there was a lot about network marketing that I didn’t understand. But I learned pretty quickly that personal development is not an option.
Everyone is different. Unlike me, some people believe in the business 100% but the belief they have in themselves is almost non-existent. This is going to be a big problem! They are always going to come up with some excuse as to why it’s OK for them to fail and other coaches to have success, “Oh, she was able to that because of XYZ and I could never do that because of XYZ” or whatever. This is not the proper mindset!
Read some books, listen to some audios, watch some videos and come back to the business of helping others when you are ready to get rid of your excuses.
Take a look at some of the coaches out there that are improving their lives by sharing this business and Beachbody products with others. They are quitting their full-time jobs, spending more time with family, taking trips, paying off their mortgage, building dream-homes, donating money to charity, etc. You need to believe in this opportunity because it is HUGE!
So how do you get that belief? Watch, learn, and study other coaches that are where you want to be. Get on the conference calls, get on webinars, attend local events, attend Summit, get on social media. Once you see what other people are doing with their business it will make you believe in yourself more. Know that you are NOT alone in your struggles…EVERYONE has them!! Look at where these coaches were 1-3 years ago and where they are now.
Why not YOU??
