YES, it IS possible to make money as a Beachbody coach! This is the first check I earned as a Beachbody coach. I signed up as a coach on May 17, 2010 and received my first payment in early June. No, it’s not an earth-shattering amount, but it’s a start! I earned the money from a personally sponsored coach that signed up under me and purchased the Showcase Starter Pack and from the sale of a Tony Horton One-on-One DVD that was made from my blog.
So far 100% of my earnings has come from people visiting my blog. I haven’t really put a lot of work into it, just a few hours a week writing posts. So, if you’re thinking about becoming a Beachbody coach the first thing you should do is setup your personal website or blog! Yes, Beachbody gives you two product websites you can use for your business but how are people going to find them? Having your own website where you share your personal story and experiences with others makes it a lot easier.
It’s also important that you don’t use a free blogging platform like Blogger.com, WordPress.com, or Tumblr.com for your website. You want to have COMPLETE ownership of the content you use to market your business. If you use one of these free blogging services, they have the right to delete your content, suspend your account, or do anything else they want with your blog at any time. It’s a lot like renting a house. So if you’re serious about building your business the right way you need to purchase your own domain name and use that for your website. The search engines also favor personally owned domain names and usually rank them higher in the results over free blogging platforms.
Now, don’t expect results overnight. It takes time for new blogs to gain trust with the search engines. But as long as you are patient and continue to build content (at least 3 or 4 posts a week) you will eventually see results. Believe it or not but there’s actually a fun and easy way to do this! I have a blueprint for blogging success that I’m willing to share with anyone that joins my coaching team. However, I’m very careful about who I share this plan with because I only want people on my team who are serious about building their Beachbody business the right way. I’m also willing to setup your blog for free (you’ll just have to pay for hosting) to make the whole process as easy as possible for you.

In paragraph 3 you mention not to use WordPress or Blogger, but I notice that it appears like you use WordPress. Can you please explain this to me? Do you pay for an upgraded version so that you “own” the rights to the content? I am trying to put together all the potential costs of being a successful BB coach before taking the plunge.
Hi Shannon, that’s a really good question! It can be a little bit confusing because there are two versions of WordPress….the free version (WordPress.com) and the self-hosted version (wordpress.org). The self-hosted version is what I use. This involves installing the WordPress software on your own web hosting account. Web hosting is fairly cheap, about 5 bucks a month and a domain name costs less than $10 for a year. That’s a pretty good investment in my opinion!
Thank you so much!!! That helps a lot!!!
Wow, 100% from blog… Do you do any of the fit clubs? you mentioned somewhere needing to have samples of Shakeology…when do you use those?
Also, do you have any thoughts on the BeachBody name actually bringing people into gyms?
Thanks! Doris

I recently signed up to be a coach under my existing coach (I have used Beach Body products for 3+ years and just recently decided to coach). I think he does his coaching on a part time basis and is not really “in the business” to make his coaching his number one job. Everyone talks about choosing their upline coach carefully and needing someone that is helpful, encouraging and successful. Well, I didn’t get that choice. I mean, he is successful but I am looking to grow the business more than he is. Am I stuck under my coach?
Hi Lawdiva, if you signed up less than 72 hours ago you can request to change coaches. Otherwise you are pretty much stuck unless you want to close your account and then sign-up again in six months. Having a supportive coach is definitely helpful, but at the end of the day it’s YOUR business so no matter who your coach is you need to take ownership of it and put in the work–supportive coach or not. I highly recommend getting yourself to a corporate event and especially the COACH SUMMIT in June!
